Recycling for Community Builds,,,,

"Recycle and Reuse"

Activities and projects in the classroom and at home can be created using many recycled materials.  You can use milk cartons to build mini homes creating a community, old CDs can be used as wind chimes and paper towel tubes as binaculars.  Be an explorer in your community and see what you can make out of recycled materials! Check out this site for ideas!

Enjoy!

Morris Events...

 Morris Gymnastics Team!

This past weekend, I had a great time hanging out with my wonderful directors and getting out into the Morris community.  We had a fun time celebrating that afternoon with family and friends for LeRoy's Retirement party! Eating lots of good food and getting the best hospitality ever! That evening, I had so much fun at the Morris Gymnastic 6A Cchampionship, passing out metals and trophies and celebrating with the teams.  Thanks to my friend and runner up Kacy for this opportunity!

Morris is such a welcoming community and I am so happy to be apart of it every time I come to visit!

Thanks again for everything :)

Children's Community Build- Owatonna

How can YOU become a community BUILDER?

"Create opportunities for others to explore"

"Volunteer in your community"

"Donate time and items to people in need"

"Share your stories with others"

"Become a role model"

"Enjoy time with family and friends"

"Become someone who can inspire others"

"Help build up your community with Habitat for Humanity"

Yesterday, I had a wonderful time doing a community build in Owatonna, MN at the local library.  It was extra special because Owatonna is my home town and I had so much fun sharing this community build with my family and friends.  After promoting the community build around the area the last month, we had about 35 people attend the children's build.  I was so happy to see everyone come out and join me in building up our own community.  Everyone seem to have lots of fun and the children really enjoyed playing with the homes they built on the felt carpet I created for the community builds.  I am so happy I had the opportunity to share Habitat for Humanity and the build with my own community!

Thanks to Owatonna Library for being such a wonderful help!

Children's Community Build- Waterville

"Becoming a Community Builder"

This past week, I had so much fun taking a trip to Waterville, MN for a Children's Community Build at the local library.  Once I arrived, the children were so happy to see me, we played blocks and read some stories.  The children and adults enjoyed learning about Habitat for Humanity and how they can help build up their own community.  We had a wonderful time building homes, doing an art activity, singing songs and creating their own community at the library!

Thanks to Waterville Library for letting me become a part of your community!

Polar Plunge Video....

Miss Midwest 2010 taking the Plunge.....

"Building up YOUR community with Habitat for Humanity"

The Polar Plunge in Waseca, MN!

Miss Midwest and the Polar Plunge!

Building up the community... raising money for Habitat for Humanity!

This afternoon, I took a very cold plunge into Clear Lake in Waseca, MN.  It took about 45 mins just to make a hole in the ice for the plunge, but the turn out was wonderful and many people signed up with donations. There were about 65 people who plunged into the freezing lake, raising about $2,500 for Habitat for Humanity.  The community came together and had so much fun playing on the lake, sharing stories and drinking hot chocolate.

Thanks to all the participants who helped sponsor the plunge and Habitat for Humanity!
