Last week I had an amazing opportunity to volunteer at the Texas Children's Hospital. This is one of the largest children's hospitals in the Houston area. I worked with several volunteers and talked with many children... encouraging them, sharing stories and passing out pictures. The children were so happy to see a "princess" come into the hostipal and talk with them. It made them feel very special and I could retale to many of the students, being a teacher and a big sister of five. Their stories changed my life as well and I can's wait to go back and visit again.
I wanted to thank the hostital's volunteer staff for inviting me to join them and I looke forward to visiting again in the near future.
"Make sure to live everyday to the fullest and give thanks to all your family and friends!"
Thanks again,
Rachael Sands (Miss Midwest)

Texas Rodeo!
This last weekend, I also had a wonderful time at the Pasadena Rodeo. It was so much fun meeting the local people and sharing my title with them. We had the opportunity to watch cattle roping, bull riding and even one of my favorite country bands, the Casey Donahew Band! I wanted to say thanks to my good friend and fellow student teacher whom escorted me in the parade and rodeo. I had a wonderful time and cant wait to do more throughout the Houston area at local events!
Make sure to have a wonderful week.... God bless yall!

Pasadena Parade in Texas!
I had the wonderful opportunity to be in my first parade in Texas at the Pasadena Rodeo Parade. I got the chance to meet many local title winners and had a wonferul time throwing candy to the children. The people were very nice and so happy that I could join them in their parade. Texas has been an opportunity of a life time and I have already created so many wonderful memories!

Teaching in Texas!
The last two weeks I have been student teaching social studies and language arts in my 3rd grade classroom in Houston, Texas. This experience has been wonderful and my students are so much fun. I have been learning so much throughout this experience relating to everyday life. As a teacher, I have taught many students on different levels of the educational ladder and from different family backgrounds. In order for our students and children to succeed in school we need to make sure that their needs are met before they can achieve. Lets make an effort as teachers, parents and careproviders to make sure our children are getting a good night sleep, healthy foods and all the love they need to help them succeed!
Helping each other build up foundations for success, Pay it Forward! :)
Have a wonderful week!!!! God Bless
