2nd and 3rd Children's Community Builds :)

Children's Community Build

Last week, I had the wonderful opportunity to substitute two kindergarten classroom in Owatonna.  Towards the end of the week I brought in stories about communities around the world and I talked about the organization I have been working with the last four years, Habitat for Humanity.  All week we were saving up milk cartons for a special surprise at the end of the week and they were so excited to find out what we were going to be building.  After I shared a few stories, I spread a felt carpet out onto the floor.  The carpet was filled with roads, stop signs and trees, but there was something missing in this community.  The children knew right away what was missing and lots of them yelled, "HOUSES"! They were filled with energy and excitement.  The children were so happy to build up their own home for the community.  This also had them thinking of the many different things we need to keep our community safe and healthy, including: schools, hospitals, Churches, firehouse and grocery stores.

Once we finally put the community together, the children were so happy to see what they built.  Words cant describe the joy and happiness you see on a child's face after they have achieved something that they worked so very hard on.  I was very happy to bring the Children Community Build into the classroom and I am thankful for all the teachers that were such a wonderful help!

Thanks again and I hope to bring more Children's Community Builds into the classrooms and hospitals around the Minnesota area!

Habitat for Humanity Morris....Pancake Benefit :)

This last weekend, I volunteered with the Habitat chapter in the Morris community.  We held a benefit breakfast at the local America Legion, serving pancakes and sausage.  I had lots of fun visiting with people, serving and cleaning tables, along with greeting and thanking people for coming out to support Habitat.  We ended up serving brakfast for four hours and to about 60-70 people.  The total donations for the breakfast added up to $1,000! We were fo happy and thankful for all the people that attended.

Thanks again for all the support in Morris!

Celebrating the gift of life....

Madeline Faith
(9lbs 3oz)

The last week, I had an incredible time helping my good friend Crystal nanny her little baby girl, Madeline Faith.  She is such a doll and has beautiful big blue eyes.  We had lots of fun together eating lots of food, taking long naps, going shopping, playing with toys and reading stories.  I am so happy for Crystal and Peter.. God has truly blessed them with a wonderful gift!

I cant wait until she grows up to be the next Miss America :)

Thanks again for everything!

Habitat on MSUM Campus :)

Habitat for Humanity at MSUM has been a organization I have worked with over the last four years.  I was very thankful to have the opportunity as a MSUM Alumni to help support Habitat community builds on campus.  Every year, Moorhead State sends their students on 3-5 different Habitat trips around the nation.  During my college involvement with Habitat, I went on three different trips across the nation and they absolutely changed my life.  Habitat gives you the opportunity to make a difference in communities around the world.  If your interested in making a difference, look into a Habitat trip on your campus or visit http://www.habitat.org/ for more information!

Moorhead Children's Build!

Building up YOUR community!

This week I had the wonderful opportunity to do the first annual Habitat for Humanity Children's Build at the Moorhead Public Library! I read the children a few stories and we talked about how we can be community builders when we grow up.  They were so excited to build their own homes and talk more about community involvement.  The children were so thankful to have this opportunity to build a home of their own.  There is something about building and achieving an acitivity or project on your own that gives you confidence and ambition as a child.  I am so thankful I could participate and give these children that opporunity!

Thanks to Moorhead Public Library for all their help!

Come out tommorrow morning for Story Time at 10:30 am at the Moorhead Public Library...
Miss Midwest willl be reading stories and coloring pictures with the children!

Visiting the North Shore :)

Miss North Share Pageant!

Congrats Caitlyn Thompson, Miss North Shore 2011!

The North Shore area was beautiful! We had so much fun cheering on the girls at the local Miss North Shore pageant, snowshoeing, taking pictures on Lake Superior and walking accross Gooseberry Falls.  The Two Haborbs and Duluth area was so much fun and I am very happy we took the road trip to support the local pageant! Thanks to the community for being such wonderful supporters and I can't wait to visit again!

Stay safe and keep warm!
God Bless!

Celebrating the New Year at Owatonna Commons!

Spreading the Holiday CHEER for all to HEAR!

Last week, I had a great time hanging out with the Owatonna Commons staff and members, along with my Grandmother.  I brought in the guitar and sang christmas and worship songs to uplift them after the holidays and for the new year.  After words we shared many stories, ate snacks and had a fun time pushing grandma around the campus.  I am thankful to bring my talent into places around the area spreading the holiday cheer!

Thanks Owatonna Commons for this wonderful experience!

Gillette Children's Hospital

Gillette Children's Hospital in Minnesota is an amazing place that brings out the best in their patients. I had a fun experience volunteering with my fellow contestants and Miss Minnesota, making crafts, sharing stories and laughing. The patients at Gillette's are very inspirational and have strong hearts.  I was very blessed to be a part of their lives through Gillette's and I hope and pray for the best in the future.

Thanks for this opportunity and God bless!

I can believe the time has come to put away my college apperal and put on my teaching attire.  I am so happy to have obtained a Bachlors Degree in Education from MSUM.  I can't wait to become a teacher and use my degree to educate others on my platform. I would not have achieved my edcuation with out the love and support from my family, friends and committee.

I am very blessed to have such wonderful supporters!
 Thanks for everything!
